On November 15, 2024, the Department of Tourism Region 9, in partnership with Sali-Argao Boardriding and Adventure Inc. from Argao, Cebu, launched the Skimboarding Basic Training and Clinic at Q Sand Beach Resort, Labason, Zamboanga del Norte. This event marks the beginning of a dedicated effort to develop skimboarding as a premier water sport in the region.

This initiative aims to position skimboarding as a signature water sport in the region, boost local skills, and encourage community engagement. With continued support and collaboration, Region 9 seeks to establish itself as an exciting destination for water sports tourism in the years to come.
