Labor force refers to the economically active population 15 years old and over, who are either employed or unemployed.

Based on the 2015 population count, the potential labor force around 26,245, it represent 65.97 percent of the total municipal population. Of these, 53.72 percent are employed, 42.26 percent are unemployed and about 4.02 percent are not in the labor force.

The high percentage of employed persons in the municipality could be attributed to the fact that majority of the residents are farmers and fishermen who are considered self-employed, while the population is not in the labor force or not economically active population are those who are either sickly or the physically incapacitated for men; those who are just plain housewives for women; the students and the elderly.

With the projected increase of the population, the number of employed persons in the municipality as well as the unemployed ones is also expected to increase.
