Historical Growth of Population

Records from NSO showed that in 1975, Liloy has a population of 33,328 registering an annual growth rate of 5.2 percent over the 1970 population of 26,449.  In 1980, it was recorded at 34, 841 with an annual growth rate of 0.90 percent.  Then, in the 1990 Population Count, the population decreases to 29,807.  The decrease of the population can be attributed to the separation and creation of the Municipality of Tampilisan in 1978 whereby some portions of the territorial jurisdiction of Liloy has been taken out as a result of the said creation.

Then in the 2015 PSA Census, Liloy has a total population of 39,812. It has an increase of 797 persons over the 2010 population count, registering an annual growth rate of 0.47 percent.

Thus, the population is expected to increase to 40,714 by the year 2020 and further increase to 43,706 by the year 2025 with the projected average growth rate of 0.47 percent annually.

The Town population growth showed a slow steady increase of the population since the time it was created up to the recent population count conducted by NSO. The continuous increase of the population can be attributed to the gender composition of the municipality.

Definitely, the gender composition would reflect like this, the male comprises almost 51% or 20,304 of the total population while the female is 49% or 19,508 women as computed per barangay.
